Taron Egerton Confirms Kingsman 3 Will Be The Final Chapter For Eggsy And Harry

The Kingsman franchise was a surprise success for Fox. 2014’s The Secret Service exceeded expectations, spawning a sequel in the form of 2017’s The Golden Circle, an in-production spinoff prequel titled The King’s Man and Kingsman 3. Up until recently, we didn’t know much about the third entry in the trilogy, and there’d been talk that the franchise’s mature content might see it cancelled due to Disney owning it after the Fox merger. Fortunately though, it seems that Kingsman 3 is indeed going ahead.

The updates come from star Taron Egerton and director Matthew Vaughn. The actor was asked about the movie at the ACE Comic Con Seattle over the weekend, saying that:

“So you have The King’s Man coming, which is a prequel set around 100 years ago, and I’m not in it. But I do know some stuff about it, and it’s really, really exciting, it’s got an amazing cast and it’s an amazing story. And then I think — I think, think, think — we’ll be doing the final chapter in the Harry and Eggsy trilogy next year, I think, yeah.”

Vaughn also provided some more detail in a recent interview with Digital Spy, where he explained the following:

“We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship. The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year. But [The King’s Man] has been pushed back to February 14th for coming out, and so, yeah, as soon as that’s done, we’re looking forward to… It’s funny. As Taron was saying, he’s looking forward to becoming Eggsy again, because emotionally it’s a lot less draining. [than playing Elton John in Rocketman].”

So, right now the future is bright for Kingsman fans. Personally, I’m really looking forward to The King’s Man, as Egerton isn’t kidding when he says it’s got an amazing cast. Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Daniel Brühl, Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Djimon Hounsou and Stanley Tucci are all set to appear – which is a seriously impressive range of talent. Let’s hope it’s a return to the quality of the first film and heralds a quick production turnaround for Kingsman 3.
