Could Mando defeat Kylo Ren? Some ‘Star Wars’ fans think there’s a chance

Could Mando defeat Kylo Ren? Some ‘Star Wars’ fans think there’s a chance

The Star Wars Universe is ever expanding, much like our own, and the introduction of new characters in the Disney series has led people to wonder who could take on who, and what would the outcomes be. Despite existing years before Ben Solo’s birth, many wonder if Din Djarin from The Mandalorian could ever take on the unhinged yet powerful Kylo Ren.

Now, both of them are strong characters in their own right, having taken on formidable foes and survived numerous threats to their lives. We have a feeling though that the footing isn’t quite equal here.

‘Deadpool’ star joins the cast of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’

A new Spider-Man variant has been confirmed for Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and the actor crossing universes to portray him is none other than Deadpool‘s Karan Soni. The actor played the lovable, if slightly insane, taxi driver, Dopinder in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, but now he gets a chance to be the hero in the upcoming sequel to the critically lauded Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Soni will be lending his voice to Pavitr Prabhakar, also known as Spider-Man India. This character was created in 2004 by Gotham Entertainment Group in India, it only ran for four issues and was released in the United States in 2005. It was a retelling of the famous Spider-Man origin story that we all know setting it instead in India.

Hugh Jackman has sparked speculation of Wolverine variants showing up in ‘Deadpool 3’

Hugh Jackman has sparked speculation of Wolverine variants showing up in ‘Deadpool 3’

More information has been revealed about Hugh Jackman‘s MCU debut in Deadpool 3, after it was announced last year that he will be reprising his role as Wolverine. The actor previously mentioned that Marvel Studios has a creative way to include the adamantium hero in the current MCU timeline without clashing with the events of Logan, and the actor has now revealed a tiny hint as to how that will be achieved in the upcoming movie.

During a French interview for the film The Son, Jackman revealed that he’s going to have a “dual role” in the upcoming Marvel film. He told LeParisien that filming begins this summer, and that he’s making use of his time in Paris to experience the cuisine before he undergoes a strict diet to bring back his former Wolverine body.

Netflix proves it has ghosts as a haunted house comedy scares its way to the top of the charts

Netflix proves it has ghosts as a haunted house comedy scares its way to the top of the charts

Netflix knows its target audience, and while we might be months away from the “official” start of the spooky season, it is giving us ghosts and haunts galore with a new film that’s already toping the charts: We Have A Ghost. Starring Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, Jennifer Coolidge, and Jahi Di’Allo Winston, the movie has a feel-good element while navigating a spooky adventure.

The idea of having a ghostly pal inhabit your house sounds frightening, right? Of course, it does, but what if that spooky spirit in the attack was more friend than foe? What happens when the apparition is just a lost and lonely soul looking for whatever comes next? That’s part of the premise of the Netflix movie taking audiences by storm, and it’s a can’t-miss family watch.

With Marvel’s Phase 5 dividing the fanbase, is it time to retire post-credits scenes?

Ask any Marvel fan about the post-credit scene in the first Iron Man movie and you’ll likely get a smile, a flash of the eye, and the indescribable feeling of seeing a universe take shape right before your very eyes.

Back then, the MCU’s post-credit scenes were single-scoop delectables doled out at the end of movies to spark enthusiasm for projects whirling in the pipeline; Samuel L. Jackson emerges from the shadows as Nick Fury in Iron Man to tell Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) that he isn’t the only superhero in the universe; Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) dials Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 2 to report the sighting of Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer at the center of a large crater; Nick Fury approaches Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in Captain America: The First Avenger to enlist him as an Avenger.

Latest DC News: The maddened SnyderHorde threatens to sue the DCU and the MCU beats out the DCEU for worst place

It turns out that the fans of the Snyderverse may not understand what false advertising means exactly. Also, one of James Gunn’s besties is headed for the big screen and DC is finally running behind the MCU in a good way.

Can DCEU fans really sue DC for not making good on Henry Cavill’s Black Adam cameo?

No matter what one thinks about the DCEU aka “The Snyderverse”, it’s fairly certain that most DC fans were pretty psyched to see Henry Cavill back in his blue tights as the mighty Man of Steel in last year’s Black Adam post-credits scene. The movie itself may have been flawed, but more than a few audience members thought the appearance was a guarantee that they’d be seeing Cavill flying across the screen in the near future.

The titular ‘Cocaine Bear’ channeled Baloo From ‘The Jungle Book’

The outrageous and delightfully self-aware Cocaine Bear finally rampaged its way into theaters around the world over the weekend, delighting horror fans with its extremely far-fetched (but inspired by real events) premise.

While the titular beast was the work of some meticulous visual effects work, there was a man beneath all of the computer-generated wizardry on the set of the film standing in for the coked-up predator we see on the screen. That man’s name is Allan Henry, and he took his role as ‘Cokey’ the bear very seriously.

‘Quantumania’ director’s revelation about Ant-Man’s unexpected role in the Avengers has fans wondering how he got the job

‘Quantumania’ director’s revelation about Ant-Man’s unexpected role in the Avengers has fans wondering how he got the job

Ant-Man is one of the lesser-known Avengers within the MCU, partially because he was only brought on last minute, but also because he hadn’t really faced the same level of threats that the others had, that is until Thanos of course. As we saw in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Ant-Man is now a well-recognized figure (unless he’s being mistaken for Spider-Man) and another reason for this may be the specific role he was assigned after the battle for the Universe.

Ant-Man was one of the few heroes left after the snap, it was his completely fortuitous return from the Quantum Realm that set into motion the plan to right all the wrongs caused by Thanos. It would seem that in the aftermath, Scott was given another key role by the Avengers, telling the story of how they defeated the mad Titan.

The creator of award-winning software details how it was used to create hyperrealism of ‘Blade Runner 2049’

While no one’s making the argument that 2017’s Blade Runner 2049 is better than the original, there is an argument to be made about its phenomenal visual effects. Now we’re getting some insight into why they were so spectacular, right from the source.

Last week, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gave Sébastien Deguy and his team a technical achievement award for the Adobe Substance 3D Designer software, which was used with great effect in the latter Blade Runner. It turns out that DeGuy has a “PhD in applied math and random processes” and was trying to find a way to “accurately” represent things like cloud and textures on objects, per Variety.

M.O.D.O.K’s ‘Quantumania’ look may be forgettable, but the memes will live forever

M.O.D.O.K’s ‘Quantumania’ look may be forgettable, but the memes will live forever

I think everyone can admit that there were a few things from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania that were a tad disappointing. The ending was not what people expected after having the trailers build it up the way they did, and the fact that Kang the Conqueror was conquered was a little bit of a letdown for his character, but one of the biggest gripes of the film was the way they handled M.O.D.O.K.

The adaption of the famed comic book villain was so far off of many people’s hopes that he has become meme-worthy as viewers and Marvel fans have taken to the internet to absolutely drag the character. Not only did the studio completely change his origin story and then quickly kill him off within his first film, but fans could not get over how bad the character looked, with many once again blaming Marvel’s terrible CGI standards.

A ‘Star Wars’ Mandela effect leaves even longtime fans shaken to the core

A ‘Star Wars’ Mandela effect leaves even longtime fans shaken to the core

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was an iconic image from Star Wars which has been ingrained into the collective pop culture memory. But what if we told you this still which everyone and their dog recalls was never actually in the film?

1977’s Star Wars is possibly the single most influential film ever made. Completely reinventing science fiction, fantasy, and blockbuster entertainment all in one, you cannot escape its impact anywhere in pop culture or even in day-to-day life. So much comes back to George Lucas’s original film, it’s the Citizen Kane of its generation with how it changed filmmaking.

If WB indeed remakes ‘LOTR,’ we all know who will be the new Samwise Gamgee

The Lord of the Rings may be on its way to the theaters, thanks to a recent announcement made by Warner Bros last week. And while there is debate if there should be more movies considering the current reception of the Amazon series, The Rings of Power, the fan casting has begun for this upcoming new film trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkein’s work.

In a recently-removed post on r/lotrmemes, Reddit user u/FrankReynoldsCPA found the perfect actor to play Samwise Gamgee. If you recall, Samwise became a father at the end of Return of the King. He married the girl he fancied in the Shire and has a daughter. So if the film does follow the pattern made by Star Wars and would end up as a sequel trilogy, it is assumed that Samwise would age, hence a possible need for a recast.

A far-fetched theory connecting two iconic horror franchises makes more sense than it should

A far-fetched theory connecting two iconic horror franchises makes more sense than it should

A theory can come from out of nowhere and many times they are simply too far-fetched to take seriously, but once in a while there’s a theory that makes everyone scratch their heads. That’s what’s happening when a horror fan who said they were joking about Alien and The Thing threw out a theory on Reddit that actually works.

Alien is a movie that came out in 1979 starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright, and Harry Dean Stanton and was directed by Ridley Scott. In it, viewers are introduced to a Xenomorph, an endoparasitoid extraterrestrial species that kills everyone on the spaceship except Weaver’s character who somehow survives. The film gave us the notorious scene when John Hurt is flailing on the table when all of a sudden, the alien bursts through his chest, grins at everyone, and then scurries away. The Xenomorph, played by Nigerian visual artist Bolaji Badejo, makes a return visit in the sequels Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection as well as the film’s prequels Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

James Bond joins Roald Dahl in being edited for offensive content, and the floodgates of fury have been opened

James Bond joins Roald Dahl in being edited for offensive content, and the floodgates of fury have been opened

A massive can of worms was opened last week when it was revealed the back catalogue of Roald Dahl novels were being re-edited to remove content deemed as offensive before going back into print, so you can only imagine how both literature and cinema fans reacted upon discovering that Ian Fleming’s James Bond was being given the same treatment.

While Dahl may have been a widely-beloved author who penned a litany of children’s classics, his personal opinions and beliefs left a bad taste in a lot of mouths, so you can see both sides of the argument. On one hand, introducing less controversial takes on his established works could get a new generation of kids reading, whereas making such artistic compromises bristles the purists, especially when it’s easy to simply leave them out of print.

Latest Sci-Fi News: SnyderVerse stans willing to go to court over Henry Cavill’s Superman as ‘Ahsoka’ gets an exciting trailer update

Latest Sci-Fi News: SnyderVerse stans willing to go to court over Henry Cavill’s Superman as ‘Ahsoka’ gets an exciting trailer update

It has been months since Warner Bros. got rid of Henry Cavill as Superman and slowly dismantled the SnyderVerse in the hopes of starting fresh with James Gunn at the helm. Those plans are well and truly underway, but the fans still aren’t over the fact that their favorite live-action Justice League disbanded so prematurely.

On the other side of genre filmmaking, almost opposite the superhero game, Star Wars continues to reign supreme over all the other space franchises, emboldened by the return of The Mandalorian in just a few days. As we inch closer to the premiere date, however, the Ahsoka series receives another exciting update.

Latest Marvel News: ‘Quantumania’ breaks its most embarrassing MCU record yet as ‘Spider-Man’ star firing casts doubt on long-awaited return

At this point, it’s almost hard to rag on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania anymore, despite its myriad faults, as the Marvel Phase Five opener has been so thoroughly eviscerated whatever way you look at it. From tying for a studio-low Rotten Tomatoes score to brutal fan reactions, Ant-Man 3 surely can’t sink any lower — well, at least you wouldn’t think it could, but somehow this film still finds a way. Elsewhere, a scandal involving a Spider-Man star may sting for Sinister Six fans…

Did the MCU’s latest lead just give away when their own Disney Plus is set to debut?

We have so many question marks about the future of Marvel’s Disney Plus output, with much of the studio’s upcoming streaming series set to be delayed over the past couple of years. It’s possible, then, that the star of one of these shows has decided to let slip some top-secret info in order to give the fans some good news in their time of need. Echo‘s own Alaqua Cox teased on social media that she can’t wait for October to arrive. When a fan asked if this means the Hawkeye spinoff is dropping this month, the actress gave an intriguing emoji-filled response. Let’s just remain cautiously optimistic about this one.

Gorehounds lament the villains that fell one step short of iconic horror status

Gorehounds lament the villains that fell one step short of iconic horror status

Is there a better way to spend the weekend than diving into all things horror and gore? We think not, and a recent Reddit thread is bringing up the side of horror we don’t talk about as much: legends…or rather, characters that should have been legends but fell short of achieving the milestone.

When you go into a scary movie, there’s an emotion you’re trying to feel: fear. When all the pieces fall into place perfectly, you can walk out of a theater or turn off your television with a deeply unnerving feeling coursing through you; however, when a character doesn’t live up to the hype — it can turn you off completely. That’s the topic of an interesting Reddit thread that has fans talking today.

The invincible Tom Cruise evidently has limits as there are stunts even he wouldn’t do

It is hard to imagine Tom Cruise saying no to any stunt, no matter how dangerous and bonkers it is. The man is 60 and yet, the video clip of him driving his bike off a cliff and jumping into the void in Mission Impossible 7 seems to tell a different tale. But everyone has their limits, even Cruise who has a hobby of leaving his fans speechless with the risky antics he keeps performing in his films.

During his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live as a part of the ongoing promotions for the upcoming Mission Impossible sequel, Cruise talked at length about his passion for performing his own stunts. In light of his admission that in the cliff stunt in the film that left fans awestruck, he only had six seconds to open his parachute before he hit the ground, Jimmy Kimmel asked the actor what everyone has been wondering about for years — is there a stunt he would ever say no to?

A self-explanatory crime thriller with an incredibly peculiar cast hijacks the streaming charts

A self-explanatory crime thriller with an incredibly peculiar cast hijacks the streaming charts

Recent history is littered with crime thrillers that gather together a bevvy of recognizable names and drop them into a convoluted scheme predicated on scoring a lucrative job that inevitably goes awry, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one that boasts a more peculiar and altogether bizarre ensemble than 2015’s Heist.

The story is about as formulaic as it gets, and understandably came under fire for being a brazen ripoff of Speed, with a father struggling to find the money to fund his daughter’s medical treatment. Turning to criminality, he buddies up with a ragtag group of thieves to pull a job on a casino, but their getaway ends up with them hijacking a city bus with their enemies in hot pursuit.

Just when you thought it was over, SnyderVerse stalwarts want to sue over Henry Cavill’s ‘Black Adam’ cameo

In case James Gunn hadn’t made it perfectly clear that the SnyderVerse won’t be resurrected, restored, or sold off to Netflix under his watch as DC Studios co-CEO, he openly mocked the campaign for the latter before handing over the company’s live-action episodic adaptation of Dead Boy Detectives to HBO Max’s rival streaming service.

Not only that, but the filmmaker-turned-executive has openly blasted Warner Bros. for the way they handled Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in the post-credits scene of Black Adam. As it turned out, the Guardians of the Galaxy director was brought on to start writing his reboot before Dwayne Johnson’s one-and-done dud released, and the former canonical Kryptonian announced his permanent comeback without being informed, or actually having a contract in place.

Latest Marvel News: ‘Quantumania’ has led to ‘The Kang Dynasty’ being ‘so far behind’ schedule as Sony star’s ‘Fantastic Four’ rumors leave fans at breaking point

Just yesterday, we learned that Captain America: New World Order is filming next month and yet even Anthony Mackie has yet to see the script for it, and now we’re hearing a similarly worrying update about an even more important future entry in the MCU. Elsewhere, even more Fantastic Four casting rumors have fans ready to clobber the truth out of Marvel. Last but not least, the most divisive part of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania speaks out about their role in the threequel.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty scribe admits its “so far behind” schedule, so thanks Quantumania

Image via Marvel Studios

Jeff Loveness makes his MCU writing debut with Quantumania, which honestly isn’t the most auspicious of entrances to the franchise, but in addition it seems his work on Ant-Man 3 has had a knock-on effect on his high-profile next Marvel gig — writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Loveness has admitted that he’s “so far behind” on finishing up his screenplay for the next big team-up event, which only adds further fuel to those rumors that Avengers 5 is set to be delayed past its current May 2025 release date. At this point, Jonathan Majors will have a dynasty of his own before the movie’s out.
