First Halloween Kills Trailer Confirmed To Be On The Way

Blumhouse has been hard at work on Halloween Kills, the second installment in their Laurie Strode/Michael Myers trilogy, and it looks like the studio’s just about ready to share the first look at our next Halloween trip to Haddonfield.

In response to a fan asking about a teaser trailer for the movie on Twitter, producer Jason Blum had some encouraging news, which you can see for yourself down below:

We are tweaking it. I’ll tell ya something. It’s looking really good. Sooon!!

Unfortunately, Blum didn’t go so far as to give us a specific date to look forward to, but his update is an exciting one nonetheless.

2018’s Halloween had its first teaser in June that year, which is still a while away from now, if that’s when the Kills equivalent is going to drop. Blum’s comments seems to suggest this one’s going to land at least a month or so earlier, though. Maybe even as early as April, given his enthusiasm.

In any case, there’s definitely a lot riding on the sequel, with expectations sky high after the 2018 effort stripped away all the mythos that had built up around the franchise, only directly following on from the 1978 original. Kills will strengthen the ties with that first film by bringing back a bunch of characters who starred in it. Kyle Richards, Charles Cyphers and Nancy Stephens are among the Halloween veterans returning, reprising their roles as Lindsey Wallace, former Sheriff Brackett and Marion Chambers, respectively.

Meanwhile, there’s Anthony Michael Hall joining the saga as the latest iteration of Tommy Doyle, who was played by Paul Rudd in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and by Brian Andrews as a kid back in ‘78. Nick Castle is once again back as the Shape, too, sharing his role with James Jude Courtney.

Halloween Kills is due to slash into cinemas on October 16th, with Blumhouse serving up the trilogy’s conclusion, Halloween Ends, a year later, in October 2021.

Resident Evil 8 Is Reportedly A Massive Series Departure That’ll Upset Longtime Fans

While all eyes will be laser-focused on a certain remake due to arrive in just a matter of days, work on the next numbered entry in Capcom’s beloved survival horror franchise appears to already be well underway. As previous leaks have suggested, in fact, Resident Evil 8 is on course to arrive within the next year or two and, like Resident Evil 7 before it, will be played from a first-person perspective.

Both Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield are said to be returning for the eighth installment which, we’ve heard, will adopt more of a supernatural theme featuring ghosts and wolf-like monsters. This all absolutely remains hearsay, of course, though with next-gen consoles fast approaching and Resident Evil 7 now three years old, expectations of a sequel announcement have never been higher.

According to new details teased by prominent leaker AestheticGamer (AKA Dusk Golem), however, some fans may find themselves dissatisfied with what the developer has to share.

Ah what the Hell, I’ll tease a bit more about this 2021 RE game & then not talk deeper about it until a bit after RE3 is out. The 2021 RE game started development in late 2016, by the time it releases it’ll have been in development for 4-4.5 years (been in dev at the moment for about for about 3-3.5 years). It’s development is very similar to the original Resident Evil 3, not the remake, but I won’t expand on what I mean by that until later.

The announcement for it will be really soon, and it’s by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken, to the point I expect a lot of people will be pissed off about it when it gets revealed, but they should be open-minded. Internal testing and the like show it’s high quality game, and I’m quite excited for it.

Unsurprisingly, AestheticGamer is vague with specifics in regards to why the upcoming title could prove controversial, though if the departure is as drastic as they allude to, then we can’t help but wonder exactly what type of game Resident Evil 8 will be. Of specific note is the claim that development somewhat mimics that of the original Resident Evil 3, though what that means is being left open to interpretation.

My best guess? Resident Evil 8 – if it and the game being referenced here are truly one and the same – will revisit many of the locations seen in Resident Evil 7 and be somewhat of a side story rather than a sizable continuation of the franchise’s overarching narrative. Bloodshot Beats Out Birds Of Prey In Streaming Sales

With cinemas closed indefinitely and public gatherings discouraged, many recent films have cut short their theatrical runs and gone straight to VOD. As such, a fresh new battleground has opened up, as studios begin to examine which films are performing best in this new marketplace. This brings with it some new competition for movies, as well as a small win for Vin Diesel’s beleaguered Bloodshot.

According to FandangoNOW, which is leading the way in screening films that otherwise be in theaters, Bloodshot has outperformed Birds of Prey. It didn’t take the top two streaming spots, which went to The Invisible Man and Onward, but it is certainly the best-performing superhero film of the week. And let’s face it, given how much bad luck Bloodshot has had, I’m sure they’ll take whatever victory they can.

Of course, Birds of Prey coming in fourth may be due to the fact that it already had a decent theatrical run of over a month before the Coronavirus really hit. By comparison, Bloodshot was only in theaters for a week before the COVID-19 hammer fell. So this could simply be a case of audiences choosing a movie they probably haven’t seen over one they have.

Whatever the case, these streaming charts are likely to become a key metric for studios over the next few months. Both Warner Bros. and Disney have been bullish about their major summer superhero movies eventually making a theatrical release. Wonder Woman 1984 had its release postponed (once more) for two months, Black Widow will still hit cinemas and Morbius has been kicked down the road until 2021.

But if this pandemic drags on for as long as some scientists predict, we could see some studios bite the bullet and release even their biggest productions on streaming. And who knows, once all this is over maybe studios will be more inclined towards simultaneous theatrical/VOD releases?
