On Wednesday, fans spotted the updated logo of the official Twitter account for The Flash film sporting a more muted, contrasty, and stylized logo than the one we’ve seen before.

James Gunn is once again teasing the legendary comic book Kingdom Come may be in the DC Universe’s future when it comes to movies.
As the co-CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery’s newly minted DC Studios, The Suicide Squad director Gunn and fellow producer-turned-executive Peter Safran have been tasked with hammering out the movie franchise’s interconnected future. One thing Gunn has already hinted at on social media about what could be in store for the shared universe is Kingdom Come, since he recently changed his banner on Mastadon to an image by that comic’s illustrator, Alex Ross.

Movie official trailer, fans were in awe of the character designs, world-building and stand-out voice performances from the likes of Jack Black and Anya Taylor-Joy. There were heaps of references to the Super Mario game series, including the inclusion of the Mushroom Kingdom, Warp Pipes, Tanooki Mario and the Fire Flowers. In the final seconds of the trailer, we see Mario — driving his four-wheel kart — land on a model of Rainbow Road, the infamous Mario Kart level (notorious for being one of the most difficult), accompanied by the likes of Peach, Toad, Donkey Kong and others. It’s a minor moment in the grand scheme of the trailer, which offers a lot for audiences to unpack, but it’s still managed to get the internet talking. Specifically, it led to one Twitter user — whether it be a joke or not — complaining about the “woke pride flag nonsense” that Rainbow Road represents. Yeah…

So when Disney announced that it would be releasing Disenchanted, a sequel to the 2007 film Enchanted, some fans wondered if this was necessary, especially since the opener was released 15 years ago. Disenchanted is a Disney film about life after happily ever after, and how it’s not as we expected it to be. It starts with Pip the Chipmunk giving a recap of Enchanted to his two children. They asked for more, so he told them the story of Disenchanted, a tale about life after the events of the original.
It was a bold move for James Gunn to take his first step onto the corporate ladder by agreeing to take over DC Studios as co-CEO alongside Peter Safran, because the franchise has been on a shaky nail for a long time.
That’s not to say it’s ever come close to imploding and being discarded entirely, but there’s been so many stops and starts, canceled and abandoned projects, in-fighting, social media vitriol, and warring factions both in the boardroom and on the internet that it was beginning to feel like nobody wanted the job in the first place after the search for DC’s own Kevin Feige figure dragged on and on and on.

With the movie having lost yet another director, Star Trek 4 is once again stuck in a Khan-like stasis. Whenever it does eventually get here, though, it sounds like Hemsworth’s George Kirk won’t be a part of it. When opening up to Josh Horowitz about why he turned down the opportunity to return, Hemsworth admitted that he couldn’t get past the idea of why — even once you get around the idea of his resurrection — George would be so much older than when we last saw him in 2009’s Star Trek. He’s got a point.
Stranger Things fans are, for lack of a better word, twiddling their thumbs until the fifth and final season concludes this ambitious story somewhere down the line. As with every other beloved franchise out there that not necessarily overstays its welcome, the Strangers also have a few ideas about the ultimate resolution, and it doesn’t necessarily bode well for the main heroine.
Meanwhile, House of the Dragon fans have just realized that its creator, George R.R. Martin, is actually encouraging folks to pick sides in the Greens vs. Blacks conflict, though for him, this has more to do with understanding the nuances of history’s conflicted narrative rather than feeding the furnaces of endless social media debates. If that conveniently happens to bolster the story’s reputation, well, we’re just going to have to accept that side effect.
