New Photos From The Batman Showcase The Next Dark Knight

New Photos From The Batman Showcase The Next Dark Knight

Matt Reeves’ The Batman comes at an interesting time for the titular hero. Warner Bros’ plan to abandon Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck’s take on the Dark Knight was derailed when Zack Snyder’s Justice League became an unexpected hit and audiences began clamoring for his story to be continued. The chances of the Snyderverse continuing now seem slim, but Affleck will reprise the role in The Flash alongside Michael Keaton’s Burtonverse Batman.

Intense hype for both those appearances has meant that Robert Pattinson’s hot new Batman in town has been somewhat sidelined. Some of that is down to the delays caused by COVID (including Pattinson himself testing positive). Warner Bros. had to pause production on several occasions but, after multiple postponements, it’s now confirmed that the pic will premiere in March 2022.

Now the hype fires are beginning to flicker into life once more, as we have new pictures from EW giving us our best look at Pattinson’s Batman yet. Check them out:

This is far from our first glimpse of Pattinson in the batsuit, but it cements the early reports that the primary inspiration was artist Lee Bermejo, most notably in elements like the hand-stitched leather cowl. It’s also interesting that the logo seems lifted from Rocksteady’s Arkham video games, and there are still theories that it may be constructed from the gun that killed his parents.

Though the release is still some way off, we’re starting to see more material from the movie leak that gives us an idea of what to expect so let’s hope we see more images like this soon. While interest in The Batman has cooled off slightly since that first trailer dropped I reckon it’ll be back with a vengeance in late summer as Warner Bros kicks the marketing campaign into high gear.

The Batman will swoop into theaters on Mach 4, 2022.

Black Widow Stills Show How Nat’s Costume Ties Into Avengers: Infinity War

Black Widow Stills Show How Nat’s Costume Ties Into Avengers: Infinity War

Black Movie is beyond a shadow of a doubt the most highly anticipated production on the horizon after the conclusion of the Infinity Saga in 2019, but interestingly enough, it’s also the first film that takes place in the past and defies the chronological timeline of the MCU.

Indeed, we’ve learned that Natasha Romanoff’s solo outing will take place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, which, at the very least, explains the character’s sudden on-screen resurrection after her demise in Endgame. But going beyond Marvel Studios’ attempt at finally giving Black Widow her own flick, the producers have the benefit of hindsight as a powerful storytelling device for this particular narrative.

To that end, high-quality stills of Scarlett Johansson in costume as the titular protagonist that had recently surfaced online showcase how the superheroine’s apparel evolved into her unique garment in the last two Avengers films.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Cate Shortland’s pic pay homage to Nat and her journey through the MCU by incorporating solemn scenes that hint at her eventual death. And what better way to do that than visit her old family back in Russia? But besides that, more connections of a subtle nature are also bound to pop up every now and again throughout the film.

As for her suit, back during the Sokovia Accords incident, Natasha was sporting one that was entirely black, geared towards stealth as was her M.O., but in Infinity War, her armor had protective features. Now, in Black Widow, we see that the greyish outlines of the suit actually draw parallels with that final costume, so it’ll be interesting to see how the character gets her hands on it in the film.

Quentin Tarantino Calls Bruce Lee Unprofessional, Tells Critics To Suck A D***

Quentin Tarantino Calls Bruce Lee Unprofessional, Tells Critics To Suck A D***

Quentin Tarantino has never been one to shy away from controversy. In fact, many of his films have proven to be controversial in one way or another. The most recent case was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which depicted martial arts icon Bruce Lee in a way that Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, said was “irresponsible” and “the way white Hollywood treated [her] father when he was alive.”

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tarantino said that he although understands Shannon Lee’s issues with the way her father was depicted, he has no time for others to criticize the portrayal.

“Where I am coming from is I can understand his daughter having a problem with it. It’s her fucking father. I get that,” Tarantino said, per IndieWire. “But anybody else, oh suck a dick!”

Shannon Lee said she disliked how her father was portrayed, even saying that the film depicted him as an “arrogant asshole who was full of hot air.” Tarantino said he did find Bruce Lee to be arrogant in his research, and he subsequently refused to alter Lee’s portrayal, which seemingly led the film to not be released in China. Tarantino also explained Lee’s alleged combative nature with American stuntmen, such as famous stuntman and martial artist Gene LeBell, on Rogan’s podcast:

“Bruce had no respect for American stuntmen, he was always hitting them with his feet,” Tarantino continued. “It’s called tagging when you hit a stuntman for real. He was always tagging them with his feet and his fist and it got to the point where they would refuse to work with Bruce. He had nothing but disrespect for American stuntmen. It was probably just like, ‘Oh they’re just not good enough. They are pussies. I want to make it look real!’ But stuntmen don’t like that. That’s unprofessional.”

Bruce Lee

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and its cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie, received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Quentin Tarantino, 58, has directed many acclaimed films, such as Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction, and the Kill Bill movies, but he maintains he will retire following his next film. He said directors do not get better as they age, and he wants to get out while he is at or near the top.

Loki Writer Confirms Loki/Sylvie Romance Is Happening

Loki Writer Confirms Loki/Sylvie Romance Is Happening

They say there’s someone out there for everyone, and in Loki‘s case that person turns out to be… Loki? The latest episode of Marvel’s smash-hit series landed on Disney Plus today, and for the first time it teased a romance for Tom Hiddleston’s Asgardian trickster. After striking up a rapport with Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie in episode 3, episode 4 pushed the two closer together as they both appeared to realize they had deeper feelings for each other.

However, as Loki’s attraction was mostly spelled out to him by Mobius (Owen Wilson) and he was pruned by Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) before he could declare how he felt to Sylvie, it wasn’t necessarily 100% spelled out this was the direction the show was going in. But any lingering doubt has now been washed away as Loki showrunner Michael Waldron has confirmed this love story is what he really wanted to explore in the series.

Waldron revealed all in an interview with Marvel.com, explaining that a Loki/Sylvie relationship was a key part of his initial pitch. To him, the unifying theme of self-love, and Loki learning to forgive and like himself, made it obvious that Loki should fall in love with a version of himself.

“That was one of the cruxes of my pitch [for the series], that there was going to be a love story,” Waldron said. “We went back and forth for a little bit about, like do we really want to have this guy fall in love with another version of himself? Is that too crazy? But in a series that, to me, is ultimately about self-love, self-reflection, and forgiving yourself, it just felt right that that would be Loki’s first real love story.”

Waldron went on to add that he believes the scene early on in episode 4, where Loki and Sylvie open up to each other because they think they’re about to die on Lamentis-1, is the moment where their connections deepens.

“The look that they share, that moment, [it started as] a blossoming friendship,” continues Waldron. “Then for the first time, they both feel that twinge of, ‘Oh, could this be something more? What is this I’m feeling?’ These are two beings of pure chaos that are the same person falling in love with one another. That’s a straight-up and down branch, and exactly the sort of thing that would terrify the TVA.”

You’d expect Marvel fans to be thrilled that the God of Mischief is finally getting a love interest, but in actual fact the Loki/Sylvie romance is getting a lot of backlash online, as many folks are feeling weirded out by the couple – who some view as essentially siblings. Well, it’s clear that this is only something that will be further explored in the final two episodes of the season so fans had better get their heads around the concept.

Loki continues next Wednesday on Disney Plus.

Arrow Star Katherine McNamara Says She’s Down To Return As Mia

Arrow Star Katherine McNamara Says She’s Down To Return As Mia

After pulling off what was essentially the biggest crossover in the history of television, The CW has now embarked on a new era of the Arrowverse, though one where the fate of many characters remains uncertain.

One of these major players, in particular, is Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak, Oliver and Felicity’s daughter, who, with the help of the Monitor, went back in time and helped his father in the war against the Anti-Monitor during the final season of Arrow. After her farewell, though, the character’s future and Star City’s new timeline are unclear.

Back when the Crisis came to a close, the producers were planning a spinoff show titled Green Arrow and the Canaries, featuring the return of McNamara, Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harkavy in their respective roles as the green-hooded vigilante of Star City, Black Siren, and Black Canary.

They even made a backdoor pilot, which premiered as the penultimate episode of the show. But due to undisclosed reasons, the network has canned the series indefinitely, leading many fans to wonder if Mia will ever return, whether in her own show or other crossover events down the line.

While we don’t have a conclusive answer to that yet, McNamara would jump at the opportunity to come back. In a recent chat with Collider, here’s what the Arrow star had to say on the matter.

“Look, the Arrowverse is what it is and I have no idea what their future plans are, but I would jump at the chance to go back and play again,” She explained. “There are so many wonderful people over at WB and The CW and the whole Berlanti world. I love working there and, if they ever need me back. I’m happy to go shoot arrows again.”

Now that Stephen Amell’s time on Arrow has come to an end, and Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl is following suit in the ongoing final season, The CW may find itself in shortage of heroes for their annual crossover events, so even if Mia doesn’t return in her own series, there’s a chance she might return as a supporting character in the future.
