Top 5 best anime short films on YouTube

Top 5 best anime short films on YouTube

Anime has grown in popularity ever since shows like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Dragon Ball Z made it to the west. Since then, there has been a plethora of good anime that was not adapted by manga. Titles such as Spirited AwayYour Name, and Belle all came from original stories by amazing Japanese storytellers who were able to hook audiences along with their stories.

However, Crunchyroll and Netflix are not the only places where you can watch good anime. YouTube also provides a limitless amount of anime short films from either big companies or independent creators. Be warned: while these anime films are short, they can still play with your emotions.

‘Rubbish!’ What those who worked on ‘Star Wars’ really thought of it

The 1977 groundbreaking film Star Wars, which is responsible for birthing one of the most beloved movie franchises in history, wasn’t exactly the most well-liked film while it was being made.

Every few years, you hear another story of someone who worked on the film who thought it was not going to be very successful and even some who thought it was complete garbage. Such stories are welcomed since they prove that movies like Star Wars can only be fully appreciated when it becomes a completed product.

Does Luke Skywalker ever abandon the Jedi?

Does Luke Skywalker ever abandon the Jedi?

A Jedi like his father before him, Luke Skywalker is one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars franchise. Appearing in the original Star Wars trilogy, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, we pretty much get a picture of the Jedi’s entire life. But has Luke always upheld the tenets of the Jedi? Did the Master Jedi ever abandon his fellow members? Let’s take a look at all the times he possibly could have abandoned the Jedi and fill in the gaps.

We first come to know farmboy Luke Skywalker when he is still helping his moisture farmer Uncle Owen on Tatooine in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. One could definitely argue that Luke abandoned his aunt and uncle to their deaths, to go help Obi-Wan Kenobi, but even if Luke were there when the Stormtroopers attacked, it isn’t likely that he could have done anything. Later in the film Leia, Han, and Luke leave the Death Star and leave behind Obi-Wan, who becomes a Force ghost after confronting Darth Vader.

Now that Christensen is reprising his role as the character in Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus and Vellani is making her debut as Kamala Khan on the same streaming platform later this month, we think a cross-over event would be more than welcome!

‘Final Fantasy X’s Blitzball is apparently a legit sport in ‘Star Wars’

In what reads as niche fan-fiction, Final Fantasy X‘s Blitzball is official canon in *checks notes* the Star Wars universe. Yep, you read that right. Can someone fetch Auron a lightsaber already?

Star Wars novelist Mike Chen took to Twitter earlier this month to reveal a number of easter eggs in his recently released book Star Wars: Brotherhood. Chen makes a reference in the book to the underwater waterpolo-like sport in the game, clarifying the reference was intentional.

MCU fans wonder if people’s interest in the franchise is starting to wane

MCU fans wonder if people’s interest in the franchise is starting to wane

The MCU is now bigger than ever — in terms of the number of projects being released, at least. Remember the days when we used to get two movies a year? Well, these days, we’re up to three or four every 12 months, not to mention having three or four TV series dropping on Disney Plus alongside them. That’s a lot of Marvel Studios content out there, then, so you might argue that there’s never been a better time to be a fan of the franchise. And yet folks aren’t so sure.

Over on the Marvel Studios subreddit, Redditors have been discussing whether their interest in the MCU has started to wane at this point. One user started people talking by posing the slightly sacrilegious question, which garnered a range of responses from those who denied they’re any less excited these days to those who kind of agreed that they’re not as hyped for each new project as they once were.

Here is how ‘Star Wars’ would have looked if Stormtroopers were accurate

In Star Wars the lack of accuracy shown by Stormtroopers when hunting down rebels has become one of the franchise’s biggest jokes, but one group of YouTubers has accurately shown how drastically the story would change if this wasn’t the case.

VFX team Corridor has shared a six-minute video called “Stormtroopers, but They’re ACCURATE” which showcases how events from the original trilogy would have changed should the soldiers had better aim.

It’s morbin’ time, as a fan posts the entire script on Twitter to Morbius

The sweep is still ongoing for Jared Leto’s Morbius, and the waves of ironic appreciation has crescendoed into a Bee Movie-esque farce as the entire film’s script has become a copypasta.

In one of the most fittingly stupid moments of recent internet history, Morbius has outlived its actual memeability into becoming 2022’s stand-out punching bag. Critically panned, and culturally forgotten if not for the internet, Morbius keeps sucking some more life force with its recent digital release.

An exhilarating racing thriller speeds onto the streaming Top 10

An exhilarating racing thriller speeds onto the streaming Top 10

Ron Howard occupies unique filmmaking territory, in that he exists somewhere between a prestige favorite, a populist entertainer, and a genre-hopping journeyman, with two Academy Award under his belt and billions of box office dollars to show for it. 2013’s Rush might be the perfect combination of his many talents, though, even if it undeservedly underperformed in theaters.

The fast-paced and frantic character piece is a combination of high-octane racing thriller, biographical drama, and sports movie, bolstered by arguably the single finest performance of Chris Hemsworth’s career as charming playboy James Hunt, even if most of the plaudits (and a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Golden Globes) were aimed at Daniel Brühl’s Nikki Lauda.

Léa Seydoux opens up on infamously abandoned ‘X-Men’ spinoff ‘Gambit’

Léa Seydoux is no stranger to the world of big budget blockbusters having appeared in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood and Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, along with her recurring turn as Madeleine Swann in James Bond duo Spectre and No Time to Die, but her first attempt at getting into the superhero business ended up collapsing when Disney canceled Gambit.

Channing Tatum had spent years developing the project, with the actor set to produce as well as play the title role, but a revolving door of filmmakers, budgetary concerns, and an inability to escape from the clutches of development hell saw the fan favorite mutant’s solo spinoff ultimately fade away into nothingness.

A diabolical comedic passion project fails to wring laughs out of Netflix viewers

A diabolical comedic passion project fails to wring laughs out of Netflix viewers

As far as passion projects go, they don’t come much stranger than Josh Duhamel’s Buddy Games. The actor made his feature-length directorial debut on the project, as well as playing the lead role, producing, and co-writing the script alongside Bob Schwartz and Jude Weng, but the end result was about as unfunny a comedy as you’re likely to see.

Thanks to the pandemic, it didn’t find much of an audience either, not that it was likely to curry much favor anyway when you take the 16 percent Rotten Tomatoes score and 22 Metacritic rating into account. The ensemble effort first premiered at the Mammoth Film Festival in February 2019, but it wouldn’t score a VOD release until the following November.

Morbin’ Time isn’t going away, does Sony have to give ‘Morbius’ a sequel?

The long, winding, and increasingly bizarre tale of Morbius continues to gather new wrinkles on a daily basis, with the latest finding the movie’s official Twitter account coming painstakingly close to just coming right out and announcing that it is, in fact, Morbin’ Time.

Of course, the ironic appreciation of the Living Vampire’s live-action debut would no doubt end in an instant were Sony to embrace the memes, but the massively unexpected and stupidly entertaining post-release appeal of Morbius has potentially put the studio in a tricky position when it comes to dealing with the protagonist’s future.
