Last month, when it was revealed that this season of Arrow would include an episode titled “The Demon,” I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who immediately thought of the League of Assassins. I mean, Matt Nable’s iteration of Ra’s al Ghul may be dead and so, too, is his successor in Malcolm Merlyn, but Nyssa al Ghul is still out there somewhere. And though Talia is presumed dead after season 5’s finale, I must remind you that we never saw a body.
Well, now that the official synopsis for said episode has arrived, I’m not so sure if the connection can still be made because there’s no hint of anyone from the al Ghul lineage being involved. Here, take a look for yourself:
FELICTY DISCOVERS A SECRET ABOUT OLIVER; CURTIS GOES UNDERCOVER — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) learns something new about Oliver (Stephen Amell) that shocks her. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) asks Curtis (Echo Kellum) to go undercover for ARGUS. Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) works with an unlikely ally. Mark Bunting directed the episode written by Benjamin Raab & Deric A. Hughes (#705). Original airdate 11/12/2018.
Perhaps “The Demon” being referred to is actually Oliver, as he may yet do some morally grey things in prison. Actually, Dinah’s “unlikely ally” could be something to ponder, though my gut tells me it’s Black Siren because, after all, those two are starting to pair up when necessary.
Come to think of it, we could be thrown some curveballs by the flash forwards. So far, synopses have said nothing about whatever goes on in those, so it’s very possible the producers may show us a reformed League of Assassins twenty years into the future – along with a new Ra’s al Ghul.
Arrow airs on Monday nights on The CW, with “The Demon” set to debut on November 12th.
