Latest Marvel News: The MCU points and laughs as The Flash bombs while Chris Hemsworths Love and Thunder thoughts were clear 10 years ago

2023 hasn’t exactly been a banner year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, but unless something goes hideously wrong with The Marvels, the studio can likely rest easy that the most notorious superhero movie bomb of the year is going to come from DC’s camp, thanks to ever-decreasing box office predictions for The Flash. Elsewhere, unearthed Chris Hemsworth comments from a full decade ago appear to prove he really has time-traveled through the Quantum Realm.

Marvel Studios breathes a sigh of relief as The Flash looks set to become the most embarrassing superhero movie bomb of 2023

On top of polarizing both fans and critics alike and earning the DCEU’s lowest CinemaScore, The Flash is on course for a wince-inducing opening weekend at the box office. After initial projections foresaw a healthy $100 million opening, estimates then dropped to $80 million, $70 million, and now here we are at the film looking likely to achieve around $64 million over its first three days ($72 million, if you include Juneteenth), which puts it lower than Black Adam. It will no doubt earn more than Shazam! Fury of the Gods, but given that much more was riding on The Flash, its lackluster performance hits harder.
