David Ayer wants DC Studios and Warner to reconsider an “Ayer Cut” release for Suicide Squad. It looks like director David Ayer is done letting sleeping Enchantresses lie. The ostensible director of Suicide Squad, one of DC’s biggest critical flops, is growing ever more vocal in concert with his fans about getting a new cut of the film released that follows his original artistic intentions. Ayer has long insisted that executive interference was why his original 2016 film, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and, perhaps most infamously, Jared Leto as the DCEU’s new Joker, ended up as the worst reviewed film of DC and Warner. Bros’ so-called “Snyderverse” movies.
