Ryan Reynolds’ sweet tweet honoring Betty White will make you cry

Ryan Reynolds’ sweet tweet honoring Betty White will make you cry

The news that Betty White passed away in her home this morning is certainly not easy to digest. White lived a full life, not just in years, but in joy, love, and helping and honoring animals, people, and herself in the process.

Her joyous homecoming must be a celebration in heaven today, with her loved ones welcoming her back with open arms, cheesecake, and vodka on ice. (Oh, and nothing green — White’s taste was far too superior for veggies.)

Jean-Marc Vallée’s family makes statement following director’s sudden death

Earlier this week, Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée passed away unexpectedly at the age of 58, much to the shock of his loved ones and fans. The director, most known for helming acclaimed movies such as Dallas Buyers Club and Wild as well as hit HBO TV series Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects, died at his lakeside cabin in Québec. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.

Vallée’s family has now released a statement following his death on Christmas Day, as shared by Deadline. Their missive to the press confirms that the coroner’s preliminary report could not establish an exact cause for his passing at this time. However, it has been determined that it was not the result of the intervention of another party, a voluntary act, or a known disease. Further in-depth analyses are underway.

New evidence suggests Gal Gadot will cameo in ‘The Flash’

As Spider-Man: No Way Home has shown, you never know who can show up in a multiversal comic book blockbuster, so it’s only natural that the DCEU’s The Flash has come under intense speculation.

One of the most heavily-rumored candidates is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, with the Amazonian superhero being linked with the Scarlet Speedster’s solo debut more than once. New evidence has come to light, though, putting forward a very strong case for it actually happening.

‘Justice League’ fans are demanding the cut Green Lantern scene

Given the generally vociferous nature of his supporters, it was foolish of anyone to expect those demanding Zack Snyder’s Justice League to simply lay down their swords when the four-hour DCEU epic premiered on HBO Max earlier this year, having finally gotten what they wanted.

In fact, they’ve arguably grown even louder since being slightly satiated by the Snyder Cut. The constant calls to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse are getting a little tiring for some folks that see it on their Twitter timeline every day, and that’s without even mentioning the calls for Ben Affleck to make his standalone Batman movie, or David Ayer’s preferred cut of Suicide Squad.

Nicolas Cage lists some wild inspirations for his upcoming turn as Dracula

Even without a certain someone’s involvement, Chris McKay’s horror comedy Renfield had more than enough going on to entice fans of both genres to check it out based on nothing but the potential of the premise.

Originating from an idea by The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman, Nicholas Hoult stars as Dracula’s loyal familiar, with support coming from proven comic talents Awkwafina and Ben Schwartz. However, in what may well turn out to be the casting masterstroke of the century, Nicolas Cage was cast as the most iconic vampire of all-time.

John Carpenter shares teaser for new behind-the-scenes tour documentary

Filmmaker John Carpenter gained universal recognition and became a household name thanks to his breakthrough horror film, Halloween, which helped develop the entire slasher genre. Aside from Halloween (1978), John Carpenter has taken the directorial helm of other recognizable titles such as Elvis (1979), The Thing (1982), and Vampires (1998).

His latest directorial credit was 2010’s The Ward and the legendary figure has not directed since. But Carpenter, in addition to being an exceptional director, also is a remarkable composer. Carpenter’s self-composed “Halloween Theme” is integral to the film and even recognizable beyond it.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ star reacts to ‘Spider-Man 2’ Easter egg

Angourie Rice has been knocking around the MCU since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming in the role of Betty Brant, the classic comic book character reimagined as a fellow Midtown High student. Rice’s character already had a tie to the original Spider-Man trilogy, as Elizabeth Banks previously played The Daily Bugle secretary in Sam Raimi’s movies, and she got to drop an iconic quote from Spider-Man 2 in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

When covering Peter Parker’s first day of senior year for the school’s news network, Betty says “Go get ’em, tiger.” As any Spidey fan will tell you, these are the exact same words Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane says to Tobey Maguire’s webhead at the end of the iconic Raimi-directed sequel. While chatting to The Hollywood Reporter, Rice admitted that she didn’t realize there was more to the line than meets the eye until she saw the film.

An incredible hidden gem is finding new life on Netflix

An incredible hidden gem is finding new life on Netflix

The theory is that by providing a veritable buffet of content that covers the entirety of the genre spectrum, the almighty Netflix algorithm will turn up more than a few hidden gems that subscribers may never have even heard of but may be encouraged to check out.

Sure, it doesn’t always work out that way when the most-watched list is typically dominated by high-profile originals, popular blockbusters, and star vehicles featuring big names, but every now and then something great slips through the cracks. The most recent example is hard-hitting drama Clemency, which has risen up the rankings by nine places since yesterday, as per FlixPatrol.

Tyler Perry is an accomplished actor, writer, director, playwright, and producer, owns his own production company and studio lot that’s housed countless film and television productions, and is a self-made billionaire.

There’s no other way around it: the dude is as talented, hardworking, and successful as they come. However, we can’t help but wonder why the hell he keeps foisting Madea upon us when the character ran out of creative and critical gas a long time ago. Oh, that’s right, because the movies kept making inexplicable amounts of money.

A mind-bending box office flop rewinds time on streaming

Despite earning $363 million at the box office, good enough to make it the fifth highest-grossing movie of an otherwise dismal 2020, there’s no other way to cut it: Christopher Nolan’s Tenet was a massive box office bomb.

You have to admire the filmmaker’s determination to stick to his guns and have the time-warping blockbuster play exclusively in theaters, but a $200 million budget coupled with a marketing campaign that had to be relaunched several times over due to the various delays means that Warner Bros. didn’t see a single penny of profit on the project.

More than ten years after the release of the last Harry Potterfilm, the franchise still remains a force to be reckoned with in the pop culture landscape. Even barring the Fantastic Beasts spinoff movie franchise ⏤ which didn’t quite capture the success of the main saga ⏤ J.K. Rowling’s magical world is alive and relevant, in no small part thanks to the ever-thriving community of Potterheads.

Another childhood Disney classic is coming to life in 2023, The Little Mermaid. The film will star Halle Bailey as everyone’s favorite mermaid, Ariel, as well as Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay and Melissa McCarthy. The movie has been kept relatively under wraps, with not a lot of information coming out. All we know so far is the cast, an estimated release date and the fact that Lin Manuel-Miranda of Hamilton is helping Alan Menken with the music and adding new songs along with the classics from the animated version.

Yesterday, Halle Bailey took to Instagram with a post about how thankful she was for this past year and all that she got to do. “I feel immensely proud of myself ..made it through with God ..I thank God for this year and i’m so looking forward to the next one.” Of the photos posted in the year-end dump, we see at least one BTS photo with what looks to be some sort of tail from the film.

The previously released poster stated that the killer was somewhere on it, but this one has the infamous Ghostface alone with the quote, “It’s always someone you know.”

For the last 47 days, we’ve grown accustomed to seeing Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot’s globetrotting romp nestled comfortably at the top end of the viewership charts, in which time it’s become the most popular original film in the platform’s history for both households reached and cumulative hours streamed.

In a widely panned move that breaks with the recommendations of other health agencies worldwide, the CDC has revised its guidelines for isolation and quarantine periods.

A statement released yesterday reads: “CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to 5 days, if asymptomatic, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others.” Isolation applies to those who have tested positive for COVID-19.
