“Crisis on Infinite Earths” looks set to deliver just about everything fans could want from the biggest Arrowverse crossover yet. From Kevin Conroy playing Batman in live-action to Brandon Routh suiting up as Superman again to the possibility of some Smallville cameos, too.
What’s more, we’re now hearing that the event might even feature a major first for the franchise and finally introduce the Justice League into The CW-verse. Multiple times over, in fact.
We Got This Covered has been told by our sources – the same ones who brought us previous DC scoops like Viola Davis will return for The Suicide Squad, and a Swamp Thing movie is in development, both of which were later confirmed – that the League will appear in the crossover. As the Arrowverse heroes travel to different Earths, it’s said that they’ll meet different versions of the JLA from across the multiverse.
All told, there will apparently be three iterations of the team. We don’t know exactly how they’ll fit into the story or who the rosters will be, but it’s possible – emphasis on possible – that the three Leagues will be the Kingdom Come version, the Earth-1 line-up and the team from Supergirl’s Earth-38.
What is for sure is that none of them will be the group from the DCEU. Our source has warned us not to expect actors like Ezra Miller or Jason Momoa to show up. Still, we’ll apparently be seeing multiple Batmen, Flashes and Supergirls. For the characters that are already leads in the Arrowverse, it’ll likely be the usual actors playing the doppelgangers. And as for the other heroes new to the franchise, it’s still unclear who might be portraying them, but again, don’t expect the DCEU cast to appear in any capacity.
In any case, this all sounds hugely ambitious and it’s clear that the producers are going for broke with this one. EP Marc Guggenheim recently explained that they’ve begun work on the crossover much earlier than usual in order to get all of the guest stars locked in ahead of time and we know of several already in place, like Burt Ward as an older Robin and Cress Williams’ Black Lightning.
Still, there must be plenty more that The CW are keeping up their sleeves and while we wouldn’t be surprised if they deny this report to keep the surprise in tact, we have no reason to doubt our sources given how many accurate scoops they’ve provided in the past. Let’s not forget that they also confirmed Robert Pattinson as Batman before anyone else did.
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” kicks off on December 8th, stretching across five episodes and the Christmas break before concluding on January 14th.
