We’re now less than two weeks away from the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in cinemas. As the marketing has made clear, the big hook of Tom Holland’s latest solo adventure as the wall-crawler is that he’ll be teaming up with an apparent new hero on the block, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. To remind us of the unlikely dynamic duo, this Chinese poster puts the two front and center against a backdrop of London ablaze.
Infamously, Marvel’s Spider-Man movies have always had a fierce backlash for their posters, with fans routinely criticizing them for being overstuffed and poorly photoshopped. This one isn’t too bad compared to the others, though, as it strips things back to just the web-slinger and his new pal Quentin Beck. Also, it gives us a fresh look at Mysterio in full costume, including his fishbowl helmet. Honestly, it’s impressive how good this outfit looks in live-action.

Everything might be pointing to Mysterio being a hero – including a recent TV spot, which saw Spidey welcome Beck into the Avengers – but comic book fans are fully prepared for him to turn to the dark side before the film’s end. Because of our mistrust, most aren’t believing that he’s really from another world, even though there’s a lot of evidence to suggest FFH will introduce the multiverse into the MCU.
In any case, hopes are high for the incoming sequel and thankfully, it looks like it’ll measure up to the hype. Spider-Man: Far From Home had its press screening on Tuesday night, with critics’ initial reactions being widely positive, promising a thrilling, hilarious, surprising ride and possibly the best Spidey film ever. Yes, we know we hear that every time, but that’s just because Marvel keeps one-upping themselves.
