Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to conclude the Skywalker legend this December, but the saga will continue in subsequent movies. The Last Jedi‘s Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are working on their own trilogies and we’re hearing one of them will bring back some of the characters from The Force Awakens era.
We Got This Covered has been informed that Daisy Ridley’s Rey will have a role in one of these trilogies. She won’t be a lead like she is in the current films, however, but will play more of a supporting part. This sounds similar to how the cast of the Original Trilogy have been used since TFA (see: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and presumably Billy Dee Williams in Rise of Skywalker).
What’s more, it’s possible that John Boyega could reappear as Finn as well, though this seems to be less sure at this stage. What is certain is that Lucasfilm is adamant that Rey return for more adventures. As for which trilogy she’ll show up in, we haven’t had this clarified as yet but, for obvious reasons, it’ll be in whichever one’s set in the present-day. Well, the long ago present-day of the SW universe, that is.
Rumors persist that Benioff and Weiss’ trilogy will be based on the Knights of the Old Republic and is intended to open up a whole new era of Star Wars for the franchise to explore. If this is accurate, it’d mean that we can expect Rey to be involved with Johnson’s movies. This makes sense, too, seeing as his films are expected to be geared towards a younger audience. After all, Ridley’s character has a lot of recognition and popularity with the next generation of SW fans.
Tell us, though, are you looking forward to more of Rey as the Star Wars saga continues? Sound off in the comments section down below.
