This year is shaping up to be a real treat for longtime horror fans. Aside from It: Chapter Two – whose debut trailer is set to premiere tomorrow – Orion Pictures and United Artists Releasing are teaming up to distribute Child’s Play, a remake and reboot of the 1988 film of the same name.
Directed by Lars Klevberg and produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, this latest entry in the long-running series will not see any involvement from creator Don Mancini. More importantly, Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky – the franchise’s murderous serial killer doll – in every installment, will not be returning.
Instead, voice acting duties will be taken up by none other than Mark Hamill, who is best known for playing Luke Skywalker. Of course, other than his iconic role from Star Wars, Hamill has become well-known for his voiceover work, having portrayed the Joker in several Batman animated series, films, and video games.
Last month, Orion Pictures released a teaser trailer, which showed off a bit of Hamill’s recorded dialogue. That being said, fans haven’t had the chance to see Chucky deliver any truly terrifying one-liners or creepy laughs, until now. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, a new promotional clip posted to Twitter includes a reused line of dialogue from the trailer, but this time, it ends with a sinister laugh, which is sure to have your hair standing on end.
Sleep tight.

Aside from Mark Hamill, the film will star Gabriel Bateman as Andy Barclay (the 13-year-old boy who receives Chucky as a gift), Aubrey Plaza as Karen Barclay (Andy’s mother), and Brian Tyree Henry as Detective Mike Norris, a detective who is investigating a string of mysterious murders. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long to see how Hamill’s performance turns out. Child’s Play will hit theaters later next month, on June 21st.
