Gwendoline Christie Correctly Predicted The Game Of Thrones Finale Two Years Ago

Few could’ve predicted that Bran Stark of Winterfell would wind up on the Iron Throne.

And yet, when Game of Thrones reached its long-anticipated series finale on Sunday evening with “The Iron Throne,” it was Isaac Hempstead Wright’s cripple who was crowned king of the seven six kingdoms, much to the surprise of, well, everyone – Wright included.

Everyone except Gwendoline Christie, that is, who correctly predicted the ‘winner’ of HBO’s Game of Thrones two whole years ago, when she sat down for an interview with Extra TV and her on-screen muse, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The full clip is embedded below, which also features Mario Lopez of Saved By the Bell fame dishing out the questions.

But don’t you think it’s going to be someone out of left field, don’t you feel that those seem like the obvious choice? What we know about the show is that it constantly surprises you, so I’m wondering if it might be Bran. Just because we keep seeing the world from his perspective, don’t we. We keep seeing the visions.

Pay close attention to Coster-Waldau’s reaction, too, as the Thrones fan-favorite openly dismisses Christie’s prediction (“it doesn’t make sense!”), only to be proved wrong. To his credit, no one would’ve guessed that Bran the Broken would wind up inheriting Westeros from the deceased Cersei Lannister – if nothing else, we’ve discovered newfound respect and admiration for Gwendoline Christie, the finest knight of the Seven Kingdoms, who stood her ground two whole years ago.

Brienne of Tarth dishing out some knowledge, eh? HBO has officially bid adieu to Game of Thrones – for now, at least – with all resources now being pointed in the direction of Westworld season 3. Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad headlines an enviable cast, and we’ll know more about what’s west of Westworld come 2020.
