“There is only one thing we say to death: Not Today.”
Though the Battle Of Winterfell has come to a surprisingly swift and jaw-dropping close, it’s safe to say that Game Of Thrones still has a ton of blood-soaked surprises hidden up its icy sleeve.
Following the latest epic showdown between humanity and the undead – where Arya Stark struck the killing blow against the Night King – many fans have been asking the question: Will the White Walkers be returning to the fantasy epic?
In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Game Of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were quizzed about what’s to come in the last three episodes. Many of the answers danced around spoilers, but Benioff flat out refused to answer definitively whether the ancient ice monsters would be returning. “We’re not going to answer that.” he said shaking his head.
Sure, the HBO series’ creators may well just be keeping their cards close to their chests, but that non-answer does indeed sound like the Night King and his undead legion may one day be staging a return. Then again, who knows?
After seeing the third child of House Stark plunge a Valyrian Steel dagger through the heart of the Master of the White Walkers, shattering the whole reanimated army into ice, it’s safe to say that the zombified hordes are well and truly buried, right?
In any case, with eyes shifting towards King’s Landing and the impending battle with Cersei, our heroes will need all the help they can muster. Indeed, the supernatural forces of the undead legions may well have been defeated. Nevertheless, there’re still other nasty and unearthly beings to contend with in Westeros. The reanimated body of The Mountain – Gregor Clegane – stands steadfast as Cersei’s personal bodyguard, for example, and he’s not exactly going to be a pushover is he?
But tell us, do you think this is the last we’ve seen of the White Walkers in Game Of Thrones? Do let us know in the usual place.
