Smallville’s Tom Welling Reportedly Set To Appear In Arrow Season 8

We hope you weren’t expecting Emily Bett Rickards to stick around for Arrow‘s season 7 finale.

According to series showrunner Beth Schwartz, Rickards’ fan favorite character, Felicity Smoak, will make her exit before the end of season 7, and therefore won’t be seen in the upcoming closer – barring some unexpected turn of events, or a curveball from The CW designed to catch viewers off guard.

She’ll be missed, of course, but the show must go on and go on it will, as we already know that preparations for the eighth and final season are now underway and apparently, it’s going to deliver on something fans have wanted to see for a very long time: Tom Welling in the Arrowverse.

Yes, according to the man himself, Arrow‘s final season will feature the Smallville star. We don’t know the specifics of his role just yet, but while attending Armageddon in New Zealand, he was asked about multiverses in the DC Universe and apparently said, “I’ll be in the next season of Arrow.”

Now, this has yet to be confirmed by The CW or anyone from the show itself, but again, this is something that viewers have been calling out for for a long time now and the final season of Arrow seems as good a time as any to make it happen. It’d at least ensure that the series goes out on a high and delivers on something that should’ve occurred a long time ago.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, as we still have the rest of season 7 to go. 5 episodes are currently waiting in the wings, with the next one promising to be a truly special outing. That’s because Monday’s outing of Arrow is titled “Lost Canary” and will be inspired by the Birds of Prey – an all-female team-up storyline that features Black Siren, Black Canary and White Canary. Don’t miss it.
