With exactly one week to go until the release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has released a new batch of stills, most of which show Earth’s Mightiest Heroes looking pretty glum.

Indeed, various reports, as well as the film’s trailers, have suggested that we’re in for a more somber watch than your average MCU outing, at least in the movie’s opening passages. Even co-writer Stephen McFeely told Empire earlier this year that the feature’s first act “comes from a darker place,” adding that Thor in particular has “a lot of guilt” for his famous Avengers: Infinity War blunder. It seems that failing to prevent a universe-wide genocide is a lot to have on your conscience.
