For Star Wars fans, 2019 is shaping up to be one hell of a year. Since Disney’s acquisition of the franchise back in 2012, the Galaxy Far, Far Away has expanded at an alarming rate, not just with a flagship new film trilogy, but a whole host of additional media to boot. One of those, of course, is Jon Favreau’s highly-anticipated The Mandalorian TV series scheduled to debut in November only to be joined the same month by a certain video game.
Two years have passed since the first whispers of its existence first reached our ears but now, finally, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is official. Earlier this month, EA and developer Respawn Entertainment gave the world its first glimpse at the single-player adventure during Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, in turn confirming several characters and settings players will encounter. Rookie Padawan Cal Kestis is the protagonist for this particular tale, his story picking up shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Those who’ve already watched and re-watched the initial cinematic trailer shown at SWC will be familiar with Cal’s appearance, but you can’t have too much of a good thing, right? Respawn certainly seems to think so, as it released a fresh batch of images showing off various parts of the game. Check them out below.
Coming, as it is, from the same developer responsible for Titanfall 2‘s fantastic (and criminally overlooked) campaign, Early signs all point towards Fallen Order being a single-player experience of a similar calibre, though this time there’s a difference. With no multiplayer component in sight, Respawn can focus full attention on its standalone solo adventure and its various components, the most major of which, for many, is combat.
Respawn has purposely remained tight-lipped on how Cal will utilize his Force powers to carve a path through whole regiments of Stormtroopers, though various leaks and hints have shaped early ideas on what to expect. As to when one can expect official gameplay footage to arrive? You won’t have long to wait on that front, as E3 is but a month away.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out November 15 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
