Tickets for Avengers: Endgame finally went on sale yesterday morning, and to the surprise of no one, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is off to a very strong start.
In fact, according to Fandango, the film managed to beat the ticketing site’s 24-hour pre-sales record – previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens – in a mere 6 hours. And in celebration of this insane accomplishment, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have taken to their shared Twitter account to offer the following message:
“Unbelievable. You guys are awesome. #WhateverItTakes”
“Whatever It Takes” was probably what a lot of fans were telling themselves yesterday as they persevered to book their seats. Much to the frustration of many filmgoers, sites like Fandango and Atom Tickets had a hard time coping with the flood of traffic they received, and most visitors were put on exceptionally long waiting lists.
But despite some technical difficulties, it seems that a huge number of fans managed to complete their purchase in those first few hours, and you can bet that this won’t be the only commercial record that Endgame manages to break in the next month.
Presumably, the excessive array of promotional material that’s emerged in the last couple of weeks gave the film’s already high anticipation levels a further boost. In just these last few days, for instance, we’ve seen the release of a 1-minute trailer and yet more posters and a TV spot that offered just a little new footage. No doubt the movie’s marketing will only get more intense from here, but you can judge for yourself if Avengers: Endgame is worth all the hype when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
