Marvel Studios Head Promises Many More Announcements To Come

Right now, Marvel Studios is holding off on announcing any projects beyond 2019, but according to producer Kevin Feige, they’ll have plenty of news to share in the near future.

While next month’s Avengers: Endgame is expected to serve as the culmination point for the first eleven years of the MCU, Feige hinted in an interview with LA Times that the superhero saga still has a busy schedule ahead of it.

“There will be many more announcements to come,” Feige said. “Put it this way: It’s only the beginning.”

The Marvel Studios head specifically made these comments in reference to the the company’s aims to improve diversity in the MCU. We see these intentions in Marvel’s 2020 slate, which will reportedly  include the franchise’s second female-led film Black Widow, as well as The Eternals, which is heavily rumored to star Marvel’s first gay lead. Beyond that, 2021 looks to be the year of Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2 and the studio’s first film led by an Asian character, Shang-Chi.

What happens after that remains unclear, though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is known to be on the way, and a Captain Marvel sequel is looking to be pretty inevitable at this point. And with the Disney/Fox deal just a couple of days away from closing, fans will also be hoping to see some Fantastic Four and X-Men releases on the agenda.

But as Feige recently said in an interview with Empire, Marvel Studios is currently staying quiet about future projects in order to keep the focus on the next couple of movies. Speaking of which, it’s not long now before Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, before Spider-Man: Far From Home concludes this year’s slate when it comes out on July 5th.
