Chris Evans Hints Avengers: Endgame Trailers Spoil More Than We’d Think

At this point, it’s become obvious that Marvel Studios are holding their cards pretty close to the vest when it comes to anything regarding Avengers: Endgame. In fact, the trailers thus far released don’t really divulge all that much other than the basics: Thanos killed a whole lot of people in Infinity War, and now it’s up to the surviving Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to take him down.

Strangely enough, it’s been said that the aforementioned trailers deliberately contain footage not set to be included in the theatrical release. This supposed to be an attempt to misdirect, though I admit I’m not entirely cool with going about it in this fashion.

As it so happens, Chris Evans, Captain America himself, spoke of the samplings during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. But before he got that far, he admitted that he’s seen the first hour of the flick and really dug it after being jokingly asked to give away the ending:

“Yeah,” he says. “I wish I could. Uh, it’s — I mean — it’s a good one. It’s a real good one. I saw, like, the first hour of it.”

Soon after, Evans said this:

“I can’t believe they even cut together a trailer,” he says, “because so much of it is a visual spoiler. You’ll see. A lot of the characters have”—

He stops, covering his mouth.

“Probably shouldn’t have even said that,” he says.

Though I have no idea what he nearly coughed up there, my guess is that he could’ve been ready to say something about those dusted by Thanos’ snap getting resurrected. Or it could’ve been something else entirely. Who really knows?

Right now, the only thing we can be sure of is that all will be revealed once Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters on April 26th. Until then, keep watching this space as more develops.
