New Star Wars TV Show For Disney Plus Now In Production

In the last few weeks, various reports have surfaced alleging an overwhelming number of Star Wars spinoff projects that Lucasfilm is said to be considering for Disney Plus. And while we might never know just which of these many claims were legit, it seems that at least one of the projects may have already made it past the development stages, with Fantha Tracks reporting that a new Star Wars TV show is now in production.

The site relays info from publicly available company records saying that the series will be shot in the UK under the production name “SERIES III PRODUCTIONS (UK) LIMITED.” Though the report doesn’t go into any details on the show’s content, it’s speculated that the focal point of the series will be revealed at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in April, and that the show will likely premiere on Disney Plus after The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor series.

So, what small screen adventure might Lucasfilm have in the works? Well, to offer just one suggestion out of various possibilities, a recent report from Star Wars News Net alleged that the “next top priority” for Disney Plus will be an Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. And while the claim remains unconfirmed, this certainly sounds like one of the more viable ideas that Lucasfilm is supposedly considering, especially if Ewan McGregor is still game to reprise his role.

Either way, here’s hoping that Star Wars Celebration can bring some clarity to the matter in just under two months’ time. But before this mysterious project ever sees the light of day, The Mandalorian is set to serve as the first live-action Star Wars TV show when it arrives on Disney Plus later in the year.
