Henry Cavill Wants To Return As Superman, But Has A Few Conditions For WB

These last few months have seen an ongoing stream of contradicting reports on Henry Cavill’s continued involvement, or lack thereof, in the DCEU. But while it could be a long time before Superman makes his return to theaters, a recent rumor shared by Revenge of the Fans hints that the Mission: Impossible – Fallout star may not be out of the game just yet.

The new report alleges that both Cavill and Warner Bros. are interested in making another movie with Clark Kent, though the actor has a few demands that the studio isn’t especially keen on adhering to. As well as asking for a pay raise and a producer credit on Man of Steel 2, it’s said that Cavill wants both director and script approval. Warner, on the other hand, is allegedly unwilling to give the star all these things, and so the two camps have yet to come to an agreement.

For now, this report remains unverified, but with Cavill seemingly unwilling to discuss the matter publicly and Warner being much the same, it certainly looks like the two groups still have some issues to work out. So while many fans have resigned themselves to the idea that Cavill won’t be coming back, perhaps we shouldn’t be too quick to rule out the possibility of Man of Steel landing a sequel.

Back in December, Aquaman star Jason Momoa even seemed quite adamant that Cavill wasn’t done playing Superman, telling Entertainment Tonight that his Justice League costar is “absolutely not” finished with the franchise and that he “loves the character.” From the sound of things, Cavill’s love of the character may not be enough to keep him in the role, but hopefully we’ll get some clarification in the coming months.
