Halloween Sequel Finds Its Writer, With Main Cast Expected To Return

Though it’s long felt inevitable that last year’s critically acclaimed, commercially successful Halloween would be landing a sequel, any actual news on the matter has so far been few and far between, with producer Jason Blum reaffirming just a few days ago that the project isn’t yet official.

It therefore comes as some relief to hear from Collider that the twelfth installment in the long-running slasher franchise has now found its writer in Scott Teems, a scribe who recently worked on adaptations of Stephen King’s Firestarter and The Breathing Method for Blumhouse Productions, as well as writing for the acclaimed TV drama Rectify. The report relays intel from multiple sources that the script will be based on a well-received treatment that Teems has already written.

What’s more, it’s expected that cast members Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak will all be coming back to represent the three generations of the Strode family. Naturally, Blum is said to be producing once more, along with longtime Halloween producer Malek Akkad and Miramax’s Bill Block. As for whether or not director David Gordon Green will have anything to do with the sequel to his 2018 horror hit, that remains to be seen, though the report predicts that both he and writer Danny McBride will retain their executive producer credits, along with John Carpenter (who incidentally, has already said that he’d be down for scoring the movie).
