Darth Bane And The Knights Of Ren May Be Getting Star Wars Spinoff Series

Disney Plus is set to be a must-have streaming service for Star Wars fans. Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorianthe first ever live-action TV series in the franchise, is already in full-swing and Rogue One prequel starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor is in the works, too. It won’t stop there, though, as Lucasfilm is reportedly considering a whole load of other SW shows as well.

In particular, HN Entertainment has got five series that they’ve heard are in the “very, very early stages” of development. First up are vehicles for a young Princess Leia, Captain Phasma and Rose Tico. These ones are arguably relatively safe bets as they’ll follow characters we know well from the movies. Two more concepts in development are perhaps a bit more ambitious, though, as they’ll fill in blanks in the Star Wars mythology.

HNE has unearthed plans for TV shows focusing on the Knights of Ren and Darth Bane. Of course, the order of elite warriors led by Kylo Ren were glimpsed in The Force Awakens, but despite Ben Solo’s prominence in the Sequel Trilogy, the truth about his Knights has only been alluded to. We could infer from this news though that Episode IX will explore them a bit more, leaving the door open for the spinoff.

As for Darth Bane, fans of the Legends universe should know him as the ancient Sith Lord. Despite the Expanded Universe not being canon anymore, Bane was brought back into continuity via his appearance in The Clone Wars animated series, in which he was voiced by none other than Mark Hamill. It was previously reported that Lucasfilm was considering doing something with Bane, so we’re pretty sure this info is on the level.

If you’ll recall, we also told you last week that Lucasfilm is working on Star Wars series for Finn, Poe, Qi’Ra and Lando as well. Plans could always change, of course, but it sounds like a lot of uncharted areas of the galaxy from far, far away are about to be explored on Disney Plus, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
