Though Brie Larson’s MCU debut is still over a month away from release, the Captain Marvel star is already sounding like a franchise regular, following in the footsteps of the Russo Brothers, and Paul Bettany as the latest Marvel talent to take a shot at Mark Ruffalo over social media.
Larson’s recent tweet saw the actress share the new Captain Marvel-themed cover for the next issue of Empire, justifying the early reveal as follows:
“Honestly not sure if I’m spoiling this @empiremagazine cover but whatever, someone has to be the @MarkRuffalo of 2019. This hits stands Thursday.”
As you’ll see below, the cover features Carol Danvers herself stood between Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Skrull leader Talos and Jude Law as a character that a lot of people believe is Yon-Rogg.

To be fair, 2019 might well be in need of a new Mark Ruffalo, since the man himself hasn’t dropped any accidental intel in a while now. The last spoiler incident regarding the Bruce Banner actor may have been last October when he seemingly revealed the official title of Avengers 4 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, though even that turned out to be a false alarm. That being said, Ruffalo’s reputation is hardly unfounded, making it all too reasonable that Cheadle said earlier this month that he refuses to do any Avengers: Endgame press with the actor.
In any case, it sounds like Marvel Studios has some intense spoiler security measures in place to minimize the amount of information that Ruffalo can spill on the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, but regardless of what the actor knows, he’ll only have to keep quiet until the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019. In the meantime, we’ll be seeing Carol Danvers make her grand entrance when Captain Marvel comes out on March 8th.
