Earlier this week, The Flash made its triumphant return with what no doubt had to be its finest season premiere in years. Don’t forget, not only did I give it five stars in my review, but a fair amount of fans also expressed similar sentiment with numerous glowing social media posts.
That being said, one can only hope for such a level of quality to carry over into the rest of the season. I don’t know about you, but I’m currently experiencing the same sense of excitement I felt during the first two years of the show.
If anything, the cast and crew should be giving the extra effort because, believe it or not, The Flash will hit the 100 episode milestone later this fall. Giving early commemoration of this was actor Tom Cavanagh with a picture posted over on Instagram showing that he is, in fact, directing said installment, and how series lead Grant Gustin once again has every hair in place.
What’s more is that the 100th episode will take part in the highly anticipated “Elseworlds” crossover, so we’ll just have to wait and see how the writers managed to balance honoring this series’ previous 99 offerings while not detracting from what’s sure to be a kick-ass superhero mashup. Arrow actually had to do this two years ago during “Invasion!,” if you’ll recall.
For more on the Scarlet Speedster’s immediate future, here’s what to expect from next week’s adventure, “Blocked”:
CHRIS KLEIN JOINS “THE FLASH” — As Barry (Grant Gustin) helps his daughter, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy), become a better speedster, he and Team Flash also track down a meta stealing high-tech weapons, only to cross paths with a new foe named Cicada (Chris Klein), who is hunting the very same meta with nefarious intent. Kim Miles directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Judalina Neira (502). Original airdate 10/16/2018
Though The Flash normally airs on Tuesday nights on The CW, please keep in mind that the 100th episode will arrive on Sunday, December 9.
