The Walking Dead family lost a legend of their own this past weekend, when it was confirmed that Scott Wilson (AKA Hershel Greene) had passed away at the age of 76.
His death has triggered an outpouring of sadness and grief from The Walking Dead community, while AMC also released a statement in memory of Wilson and his timeless legacy.
Also known for his work on The OA and In the Heat of the Night, The Walking Dead fanbase will always remember Wilson as Hershel Greene, who will soon make a surprise return to AMC’s zombie drama thanks to season 9 – Scott Wilson wrapped filming just prior to his untimely death.
And now, the latest figure to pay tribute to Wilson’s life and legacy is fellow Walking Dead veteran Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), who shared a particularly poignant message of his own over on Instagram.
Never met a guy I liked more than this one here ever I’m gonna miss u so much “my main squizz”❤️
Like most, if not all of Reedus’ social media posts, this black-and-white image features him flipping the bird at the camera, and truly captures the playful, fun-loving spirit of Scott Wilson during his time on The Walking Dead.
He’ll be sorely missed, and we have no doubt that his posthumous performance later in season 9 will have viewers reaching for the tissues, regardless of what transpires for Hershel Greene. Chances are his surprise return has something to do with Maggie’s own finale, given Lauren Cohan is about to depart The Walking Dead for pastures anew.
Look for AMC’s juggernaut to return next Sunday with “The Bridge,” and we’ll have a full breakdown for you right here on WGTC the moment it’s live.
