With Henry Cavill’s future as Superman still very much up in the air, he’s now shifted his focus to Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s hit fantasy series, The Witcher.
Mostly familiar to Western audiences thanks to the hit video games developed by CD Projekt Red, Cavill is set to play the lead character Geralt of Rivia, a cynical mutant monster slayer roaming around fantasy not-Poland. And now, to mark the start of production, Netflix has gone ahead and released the first photo of Cavill as Geralt, along with the following logline.
Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
