Right now, I imagine a fair amount of you are wondering what we should call the new Green Arrow prowling the streets of Star City. Of course, “new Green Arrow” does suffice, though if we’re to apply a numeral, “Green Arrow III” seems most appropriate because we should count John Diggle’s tenure in season 6 because he did don the hood for several episodes.
So, while that debate persists, an argument of a different sort rages on in the Arrowverse itself, and that’s whether or not to trust the new Emerald Archer in town. If last week’s premiere taught us anything, it’s that Dinah Drake is ready to put the Black Canary behind her and slap some cuffs on the mysterious figure, but Wild Dog is seemingly willing to embrace the man in question.
Actually, it looks like the sentiment will be returned, as the synopsis for “Level Two” teases Green Arrow III doing Mr. Ramirez a solid:
RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN — Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a drastic move in his quest to find Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). Like her husband, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) pulls out all the stops to get to Diaz. Meanwhile, when arsonists target Rene’s (Rick Gonzalez) community center, injuring Zoe (guest star Eliza Faria) in the process, the mysterious new Green Arrow swoops in to help save the day. Faced with pressure from the mayor to capture the vigilante, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) must decide if following the rules at all costs is the best plan to keep the city safe. Ben Bray directed the episode written by Emilio Ortega Aldrich & Tonya Kong (#704).
Now, I’m not going in with the expectation of learning the new guy’s true identity, but it wouldn’t be foolish to think we’ll be given strong hints via flash forwards or otherwise. Don’t forget, the big reveal is likely coming in episode 8, so expect for things to heat up in this one, regardless.
When it comes to Oliver Queen himself, I’m wondering if his desperation to get to Diaz will lead to him breaking out of prison, as opposed to doing things by the book. Either way, season 7 has this writer hooked.
