From stoic Jedi masters to slightly more emotive men who find and kill people, Liam Neeson has a trend of playing slick dispatchers of pain. After the news broke of his casting in the upcoming prequel Kingsman: The Great Game, this career trend is set to continue. The third and assumedly final chapter of this action series is set for a February 2020 release, and the cast is already stacked aside from Qui-Gon Jinn himself.
Taron Egerton is set to return as everyone’s favorite street punk turned secret agent with the worst name in the world, Eggsy, alongside series veteran Colin Firth as one-eyed Harry. Egerton in particular is said to be excited to return to the role after tackling Elton John in the Rocketman biopic recently released. According to writer/director Matthew Vaughn, the Kingsman part is “less emotionally draining” than embodying the spirit of Saturday night incarnate. Imagine that!

Vaughn, hot off producing the aforementioned Crocodile Rocker film with Egerton, is excited as all heck to jump back into the director’s chair for this arc-concluding threequel. During an interview with Digital Spy, the filmmaker says that the tale of Eggsy and Harry just simply has to be concluded. “The final chapter of their story needs to be told,” he says, “which we’ve got and we’re ready to do.” They plan on starting to shoot later this year. Not a whole lot else is known about the film at this time.
How can the finale top the ludicrous ending of the first film, or the, uh, forgettableness of the sequel? Maybe with such hot star power as Neeson, who will be showing off his leadership skills in this summer’s upcoming Men in Black: International, this conclusion will be an invigorating shot in an odd, uneven series. Only time will tell. Kingsman: The Great Game is still a while out, so practice your lassoing skills in the meantime. Tell us about your progress in the comments below!
